A cutting tool capable of the high quality and high efficiency machining of a workpiece material of quenched steel. The cutting tool has a finishing edge (6) first caused to be cut into the workpiece material and a superfinishing edge (7) for superfinishing the material following the finishing edge (6). The superfinishing edge (7) is projected by a predetermined amount (B) from the position of the finishing edge (6) in the direction in which a cut-in amount increases. Further, the superfinishing edge comprises a burnishing part (7a) with a predetermined edge width (L) extending in a tool feeding direction and a wiping part (7b). The superfinishing edge (7) performs the burnishing of a finished surface while removing a machined deteriorated layer of a surface machined with the finishing edge. |
