abstract A colorant composition for skin care cosmetic that while retaining a hiding power, can provide a natural texture; and a relevant foundation and method of makeup. There is provided a colorant composition for skin care cosmetic containing a nonwhite colorant and not containing any white pigment of high refractive index, characterized in that in the measuring of the spectral reflection factor of the colorant composition under the following measuring conditions, the minimum value of spectral reflection factor on white ground at 630 to 700 nm wavelength is ≥ 75% while the Y value on white ground is in the range of 25 to 65. <Measuring condition> The colorant composition is dispersed in a nitrocellulose lacquer. The concentration of colorant composition is adjusted so that the spectral reflection factor on white ground of monochrome hiding ratio test paper at 400 nm wavelength falls within 10±2%. A monochrome hiding ratio test paper is coated with the dispersion by the use of applicator of 0.101 mm clearance. The spectral reflection factor thereof is measured by the use of a spectral colorimeter.
