abstract A method for producing a polyolefin based crosslinked foamed sheet, characterized in that it comprises a step of feeding a foamed sheet comprising a polyolefin based resin and having closed cells into a clearance between a pair of rolls having peripheral speeds different from each other and rotating so as to have the same rotating direction on the opposing face and applying a compression force and a shear stress at the same time, to thereby explode a part of the closed cells of the above foamed sheet having closed cells and allow the closed cells to communicate with one another and thus form open cells. A polyolefin based crosslinked foamed sheet produced by the above method is excellent in heat resistance and softness, has a small pore diameter, can be suitably used in a variety of applications, and is excellent also in vacuum formability.
