titleOfInvention | ORGANOSILANE COMPOUNDS OF π-ELECTRON CONJUGATED SYSTEM, FUNCTIONAL ORGANIC THIN FILMS, AND PROCESSES FOR PRODUCTION OF BOTH |
abstract | Functional organic thin films which can be formed by a simple and easy solution process and which can strongly adsorb to the surface of a substrate and have a high degree of order (crystallinity) and high-density packing characteristics; organosilane compounds capable of forming the thin films; and processes for production of the films and the compounds. Organosilane compounds represented by the general formula: A-B-C-SiX1X2X3 (wherein A is a monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group of 1 to 30 carbon atoms; B is oxygen or sulfur; C is a divalent organic group exhibiting π-electron conjugation; and X1 to X3 are each a group capable of giving hydroxyl through hydrolysis); functional organic thin films made by using the organosilane compounds; a process for the production of the organosilane compounds which comprises conducting the introduction through an oxygen or sulfur atom of a monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group (A) to a compound represented by the general formula: H-C-H (wherein C is as defined above) by Williamson's reaction and then silylating the obtained product with a compound represented by the general formula: X4-SiX1X2X3 (wherein X1 to X3 are each as defined above); and a process for the production of functional organic thin films which comprises making the above organosilane compound react with the surface of a substrate through the hydrolysis of the silyl group to form a monomolecular film adsorbed directly to the substrate, and then removing unreacted organosilane compound on the mono- molecular film by cleaning with a nonaqueous organic solvent. |
