An alkali battery positive electrode active material, an alkali battery positive electrode, and an alkali battery exhibiting a favorable output characteristic, a favorable self-discharging characteristic, and a favorable cycle-life characteristic. The alkali battery positive electrode active material contains nickel hydroxide particles containing at least magnesium in the form of a solid solution and a cobalt compound layer covering each nickel hydroxide particle. The average valence of the cobalt in the cobalt compound layer is 2.6 to 3.0, and the cobalt compound layer contains less than 0.10 weight% of sodium based on the total weight of the cobalt compound layer. The conductivity of the active material under a pressure of 39.2 MPa is less than 1.0×10-5 S/cm. |
