A method of detecting hybridization events in an assay containing an intercalating dye, a sample nucleotide acid sequence and a probe nucleotide acid sequence labelled with a marker dye, comprising a step of illuminating the assay and detecting a fluorescence signal of at least one of the marker dye and the intercalating dye, said fluorescence signal depending on a number of hybridization events in the assay, whereby the sample nucleotide acid sequence is contained in the assay in a liquid phase condition. |
