titleOfInvention Melanin concentrating hormone antagonists
abstract The present invention relates to compounds capable of serving as moderators of human and mammalian appetite and as such provides a means for reducing body mass. The compounds of the present invention are selective against melanin concentrating hormone and do not have the pernicious side effects resulting from compounds which interact with other appetite related brain receptors. Formula(I) wherein J is a unit containing at least one substituted or unsubstituted aryl or heteroaryl ring; R is an amino unit having the formula (II). L and L1 are linking groups each of which independently has the formula (III). Z, Z1, and Z2 are each independently a unit selected from the group consisting of: i) -NR5-; ii) -O-; iii) -SO2-; iv) -NR5SO2-; and v) -SO2NR5-; each of the indices j are independently 0 or 1; the indices m and n are each, independently from 0 to 5.
