abstract Crystals of the compound represented by the formula (I) (wherein TBS represents t-butyldimethylsilyl and Ph represents phenyl) or of a salt or solvate of the compound. The compound of the formula (I) is an intermediate for a 2-substituted 1β-methylcarbapenem compound useful as an antibacterial. The crystals have excellent handleability. From the crystals, a carbapenem compound having excellent antibacterial activity can be more easily produced. The yield and purity of the compound can be further heightened.
