Methods and compositions for treatment of excess stomach acid in mammals |
abstract |
The invention relates to a method for alleviating the symptoms associated with excess stomach acid in a mammal, by administering to a mammal in need of said alleviation an effective amount of a solid material obtainable by reaction of supernatant liquor that has been separated from untreated bauxite refinery red mud with a solution of sufficient concentration of calcium and/or magnesium ions to cause said solid material to separate. The invention also relates to a process for the manufacture of pharmaceutical and veterinary compositions for the treatment of excess stomach acid, in which the aforementioned solid material is manufactured. The invention also extends to the treatment of an animal feedstuff with a supernatant liquor separated from bauxite refinery red mud. |
