titleOfInvention Optical resin and use thereof
abstract An optical resin containing as a constituent element a polybenzazole having repeating units represented by the following general formula (1); and an optical waveguide, optical filter, and optical lens each comprising the optical resin. (1) In the formula, R1 represents a tetravalent organic group comprising an aromatic ring; N and X in each pair of N and X are bonded to the aromatic ring of R1 in ortho positions to each other so as to form a five-membered ring; R2 represents a divalent organic group; and X represents oxygen or sulfur. The optical resin has excellent transparency in the near infrared region, changes little in refractive index and birefringence with wavelength changes in the near infrared region, has a low birefringence and high heat resistance, and is suitable for use as a resin for optical parts to be used in the wavelength region for optical communication.
