Compounds represented by general formula (1), salts of the same, or prodrugs of both, which exhibit excellent effects of inhibiting nerve degeneration and so on, intracerebral transmigration properties, and low toxicity, thus being useful as preventive and therapeutic agents for nerve degeneration diseases or the like: wherein R?1 and R2¿ are each hydrogen, hydrocarbyl or a heterocyclic group, or alternatively R?1 and R2¿ together with the carbon atom adjacent thereto may form a three- to eight-membered homo- or heterocyclic ring; W is (i) a group represented by general formula (Wa): [wherein B is a five- to seven-membered ring], or (ii) a group represented by general formula (Wb): [wherein R4 is (1) aliphatic hydrocarbyl substituted with an aromatic group or (2) acyl bearing an aromatic group; and R5 is hydrogen, C¿1?-C6 alkyl or acyl]; and when W is Wa, R?3¿ is hydrogen, hydrocarbyl or a heterocyclic group, while when W is Wb, R3 is C6-C14 aryl. |
