A film responsive to anions which is obtained by forming into film either a composition comprising an onium salt compound, e.g., trioctylmethylammonium chloride or tetraoctylammonium bromide, and an aromatic boric diester compound, e.g., a (p-alkyloxy)phenyl borate ester, or a composition which comprises these two ingredients and a film-forming polymer, e.g., poly(vinyl chloride) or polystyrene, and may further contain a lipid-soluble anion salt, e.g., tetraphenyl borate. With this film, an ion-selective electrode is obtained with which hydrogen carbonate ions contained in a body fluid can be rapidly determined with high sensitivity and high selectivity and which has a long life. |
