A process for producing a propylene polymer having an intrinsic viscosity (η), as measured in decahydronaphthalene at 135° C., of 1 to 12 dl/g comprises polymerizing propylene optionally with other olefins in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst comprising a transition metal compound represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R 1 and R 2 are each a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, n X 1 and X 2 are each a halogen atom, and n Y is a divalent silicon-containing group. |
