abstract A silver halide photographic material is disclosed, comprising a support having thereon at least one of silver halide photographic emulsion layers and other hydrophilic colloidal layers, wherein said photographic emulsion layers or other hydrophilic colloidal layers contain a hydrazine compound represented by formula (I): <IMAGE> (I) wherein at least one of A1 and A2 represents a hydrogen atom and the other represents a hydrogen atom, a sulfonyl group or an acyl group; R1 represents an aliphatic, group, an aromatic group, or a heterocyclic group; Y1 represents a divalent organic group; G1 represents a carbonyl group, a sulfonyl group, a sulfoxy group, <IMAGE> wherein R2 represents an alkoxy group or an aryloxy group, <IMAGE> or an iminomethylene group; Z1 represents a group suitable for making a nucleophilic attack on G1 to separate the G1-L1-Z1 from the rest of the molecule; and L1 represents a divalent organic group suitable for producing a cyclic structure with G1 and Z1 upon nucleophilic attack by Z1 on G1.
