A polymeric composition useful for forming biomedical devices, especially contact lenses, is formed by polymerizing a mixture comprising: (a) a compound represented by the general formula: <CHEM> where R<1> and R<2> independently denote a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical with one to six carbon atoms, and R<3> and R<4> independently denote alkyl radicals with one to six carbon atoms or a cycloalkyl radical with 5 or 6 carbon atoms; and (b) an acrylate or methacrylate-functional polysiloxane monomer. p |
