An aerosol antiperspirant composition in the form of a substantially stable water-in-oil emulsion is disclosed which consists of 25% to 50% by weight of a liquefied, normally gaseous propellant and 50% to 75% of a base consisting essentially of, by weight, 4 to 20% of at least one water-soluble, astringent salt having antiperspirant efficacy; 0.5 to 5% of a water-in-oil emulsifier; 10% to 25% of a propellant-soluble emollient-stabilizer agent consisting of a water-insoluble, organic, liquid emollient and a water-insoluble organic liquid having a boiling point in the range of 35 DEG C. to 155 DEG C., the weight ratio of emollient to organic liquid being in the range of 0.8:1 to 3:1, and 55% to 78% of water. In preferred compositions, C3-C4 hydrocarbon propellants are employed. |
