Compounds of the formula: <IMAGE> in which: X represents at least one lone-electron pair donor group; A represents an oxygen or a sulfur atom, or an optionally substituted imino or methylene group; R represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms; n represents a number equal to zero or to one; B represents a COOH or COOM group (M designating a cation); Y represents either a lone-electron pair donor group, or an alkyl group R' of 1 to 4 carbon atoms; Z represents either an optionally substituted hydrophobic group R'', R'' designating an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl group of 1 to 12 carbon atoms; or a lone-electron pair donor group on which a hydrophobic group R'' is fixed; are useful as sweetening agents. |
