abstract An animal litter is described which retards the development of ammonia and markedly reduces human perception of urine and fecal aromas. The animal litter comprises an absorbent granular litter material which is first sprayed with sodium or ammonium persulfate and then dusted with a solid buffering agent to maintain a neutral pH during use by the animal.
