A novel antimicrobial agent having the formula: ##STR1## The new antimicrobial agent may exist as the dihydrochloride salt, as shown or as tautomers of the structure, or in the form of other salts and derivatives such as amides and is normally associated with water of crystallization. n The novel antimicrobial agent is obtained from Agelas sceptrum, Agelas conifera, Agelas schmidti, an unknown sponge species from Canton atoll and an unknown sponge Axinella sp., from Belize. |
