abstract The subject invention pertains to devices and methods of isolating target cells from a population of cells. The devices comprise of one or more microfluidic channels and scaffolding particles conjugated with one or more ligands that bind to the target cells. The scaffolding particles with one or more ligands are attached on to the surface of the one or more microfluidic channels. The methods of the current invention comprise passing the population of cells through the microfluidic channels of the devices of the current invention to facilitate interaction and capture of the target cells by the scaffolding particles-ligand conjugates, washing the device by a washing solution to remove the cells non-specifically bound to the scaffolding particle-ligand conjugates, releasing the captured target cells from the scaffolding particle-ligand conjugates, and collecting the released target cells.
