The present specification provides methods and devices for analyzing particles in a sample, among other aspects. In some aspects, the particles can be an object to be analyzed, a cell, a nucleic acid, or a protein, can be contacted with a tag, split into aliquots, detected by a ranking device, and isolated. The methods and devices provided herein may include microfluidic chips. In some aspects, the methods and devices can be used to quantify rare particles in samples such as cancer cells and other rare cells for diagnosis, prognosis, or treatment of disease. |
