In another arrangement a light emitting device comprises: a planar substrate (metal core printed circuit board); a plurality of light emitting diode chips mounted on, and electrically connected to, the substrate; a conformal coating of at least one phosphor material on each light emitting diode chip; and a lens formed over each light emitting diode chip.
