titleOfInvention | Pivotal bone anchor assembly insert with upright arms and rotation blocking extensions |
abstract | A bone anchor assembly for securing an elongate rod to a bone of a patient includes a receiver having a central bore with interior opposed recesses having downwardly-facing top surfaces, and a shank with a head portion confiugred for positioning within the central bore with the body of the shank extending downwardly through a bottom opening. The assembly also includes an insert that is positionable into the central bore above the shank head, the insert including opposed extensions configured to inhibit rotation between the receiver and the insert, and upright arms having top surfaces complementary with the interior opposed recesses of the central bore. The top surfaces of the insert arms are configured to snap under and engage the downwardly-facing top surfaces of the interior opposed recesses so as to establish a frictional non-floppy relationship between the shank and the receiver and to prevent the insert from moving back up within the central bore. |
