abstract | FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy; electrolytic production of aluminum; cathode device of aluminum electrolyzer. SUBSTANCE: side lining of aluminum electrolyzer consists of two parts made from materials at different resistance to melt contained in shaft of electrolyzer: upper part is made from plates manufactured from nonmetallic high-melting compounds possessing higher resistance and lower part consists of interconnected blocks manufactured from carbon-containing material possessing lower resistance; plates made from non-metallic high-melting compound are received by slot provided in upper faces of blocks made from carbon-containing material; they are connected with blocks made from carbon-containing material by means of adhesive or cementing compound or by filling this slot with carbon- containing material.
