abstract | [PROBLEMS] To provide a polymer composition for a liquid crystal alignment film capable of orienting a polymerizable crystal composition when a polarizing element having high dichroism is obtained. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The present invention provides (A) a polymeric composition containing a photosensitive side chain type polymer having a dichroic dye in a side chain and exhibiting liquid crystallinity in a predetermined temperature range, and an organic solvent. A substrate having a liquid crystal alignment film formed from the polymer composition can be obtained by applying a polymerizable liquid crystal composition onto an alignment film, then heating and drying, and further irradiating ultraviolet light as needed to obtain a polarizing element having high dichroism. |
