The present invention includes a food oil composition comprising a combination of a first oil comprising a long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid (LC PUFA) and a second oil substantially free of LC PUFA. The first oil may preferably comprise omega-3 LC PUFA, omega-6 LC PUFA or mixtures thereof. The invention also relates to food preparation methods, more particularly frying pans, deep-frying methods, preparation of edible lipid-containing food sources, methods of making extruded food products, and food products, in particular precooked foods. Methods of increasing the LC PUFA content of a product, and food products made according to these methods, are provided. Such compositions and methods are useful for, for example, increasing the intake of LC PUFAs. |
