abstract The present invention relates to a plasma processing system 10 for processing multiple substrates 26 having a plasma. The processing chamber 26 of the plasma processing system typically includes at least a pair of vertically oriented electrodes 24, with the substrate 26 positioned therebetween. Each electrode 24 includes perforated panels 42 and 50 that allow plasma flow and horizontal process gas to improve plasma uniformity. The process is formed to effectively remove thin polymer regions, such as flash and chad, that adhere to and protrude from the polymer substrate 26.
