titleOfInvention Packaged medical device with a deployable dermal tissue penetration member
abstract The packaged medical device includes upper and lower flexible sheets, a lance body and a test strip. The lance body includes upper and lower surfaces, an opening extending between the upper and lower surfaces, and a skin tissue penetrating member protruding into the lance body opening. Since the test strip has a through opening and is attached to the lance body bottom surface, the skin tissue penetrating member is operably aligned with the test strip opening. The upper flexible sheet is attached to the lance body upper surface to cover the lance body opening, and the upper flexible sheet is detachably attached to the test strip and covers the test strip opening. The upper flexible sheet, lance body and test strip may be bent to deploy the skin tissue penetrating member from the lance body opening when the lower flexible sheet is separated to open the test strip opening. It is configured to be. The kit includes such a packaged medical device and a deployment device for bending the upper flexible sheet, the lance body and the test strip to separate the lower flexible sheet and deploy the skin tissue penetrating member. A method for deploying a skin tissue penetrating member of a packaged medical device includes providing the packaged medical device as described above, separating the lower flexible sheet to open the test strip opening, and the upper flexible sheet, the lance body and the test. Bending the strip to deploy the skin tissue penetrating member.
