The present invention provides a base metal, a thin film of gold or silver coated on the surface of the base metal, a functional sulfur compound adsorbed on the gold or silver thin film, and a sulfonated polyethylene oxide chemically bonded to a functional group of the sulfur compound. Surface modified medical metal materials comprising (PEO) derivatives and stents, heart valves, and catheter fabricated using the same are disclosed. In another aspect, the present invention (1) coating a thin film of gold or silver on the surface of the base metal, (2) adsorbing a functional sulfur compound on the gold or silver thin film, and (3) sulfonic acid to the functional group of the sulfur compound Disclosed is a method of making a surface modified medical metal material comprising chemically bonding a polyethyleneized oxide (PEO) derivative. |
