The compound represented by the formula (1) of the present invention is useful as an electron transporting material of an organic EL device, and the use of the electron transporting material contributes to the longevity and the like of the organic EL device. In the formula (1), Py is independently a group represented by the formula (2), (3) or (4); m and n are 0 or 1, and m + n = 1; and at least one of the benzene ring, naphthalene ring and pyridine ring hydrogen in formula (1) is substituted with alkyl having 1 to 6 carbon atoms or cycloalkyl having 3 to 6 carbon atoms . |
