abstract | 【Task】 The present invention provides a polymer composition for a liquid crystal alignment film capable of aligning a polymerizable liquid crystal composition when a polarizing element having high dichroism is obtained. [Solution] The present invention provides a polymer composition containing (A) a photosensitive side chain polymer that exhibits liquid crystallinity in a predetermined temperature range, (B) a dichroic dye, and an organic solvent. A substrate having a liquid crystal alignment film formed from the polymer composition is coated with a polymerizable liquid crystal composition on the alignment film, then dried by heating, and further irradiated with ultraviolet rays as necessary to obtain two colors.
