abstract | Provided is a method for producing a polyether having a weight average molecular weight of 15,000 to 550,000. A cyclic ether is subjected to a ring-opening addition reaction with an initiator having at least one active hydrogen atom per molecule in the presence of a double metal cyanide complex catalyst and an organic solvent, and a weight average molecular weight of 15,000 to 550,000. In the method for producing a polyether, an organic solvent having a relative dielectric constant of 18 or less is used, and the amount of the inclusion solvent is 6 to 300 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass in total of the initiator and the cyclic ether.
