abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a coating material which can give a cured film excellent in scratch resistance, weathering resistance, adhesion to a base and transparency, comprising an allyl carbonate compound having at least three allyl carbonate groups in the molecule and a specified structure. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. allyl carbonate compound of formula I [wherein R is H, a (substituted)alkyl, a (substituted)aryl, a (substituted)alkoxy, a halogen, or NO2OH, R' is a group of formula II or III (wherein R'' and R''' are each H or an alkyl, m>=0, and l>=1) and n is 3 or 4] or formula IV (wherein R<1-6> are each a halogen, OH or an allyl carbonate group, and at least three of them are allyl carbonate groups, and k>=1) is blended, if necessary, with 0.5-50pts.wt. monomer or oligomer copolymerizable therewith (e.g., a monomer or oligomer of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), a photopolymerization initiator, a photosensitizer and 0.1-20pts.wt. radical polymerization initiator.
