PURPOSE: To enhance the collecting efficiency of mercury by depositing org. polysulfide expressed by a specific general formula into a solid inorg. carrier or the like into which a copper compd. other than a sulfide is incorporated, then heating this carrier at a specific temp. in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION: The org. polysulfide expressed by the formula R-S(n)=R' (where, (n) denotes an integer from 2 to 20; R denotes a hydrogen atom, several 1-50C satd. and unsatd. alkyl group of naphthalene type, aryl group, alkylaryl group, arylalkyl group; R' denotes the group selected from the group of the org. groups defined by R) is incorporated into the solid inorg. carrier or dispersant into which the copper compd. other than the sulfide is incorporated, by which a precursor material is obtd. This precursor material is heat treated at and for a temp. and time to enable the formation of the sulfides of one or plural metals existing in the non-oxidizing atmosphere under gas scavenging, by which the copper-contg. silver-collecting solid mass is produced. |
