titleOfInvention | Terphenyl derivative and its production |
abstract | NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (X is H, halogen, 1-15C alkyl, alkoxy). EXAMPLE:4-(1-Acetoxyethyl)-4''-octylterphenyI. USE:An intermediate of medicines, agrochemicals or organic material for electronics. PREPARATION:The acetylation of 4-(1-hydroxyethyl)terphenyl derivative of formula II with an acetylating agent gives the compound of formula I. The reaction is carried out, e.g., in the presence of a catalyst such as dimethylaminopyridine, triethylamine or trimethylamine, when needed, in a solvent, using an acetylating agent such as acetic anhydride or acetyl chloride in more than 1 equivalent amount to the compound of formula II. |
