titleOfInvention Production of inverted sugar from molasses
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain inverted sugar on an industrial scale at a low cost without causing clogging of membrane, by forming an immobilized invertase layer in a porous membrane and passing a molasses-containing raw material solution through the membrane under pressure after removing fine particles and polymeric substances from the solution. n CONSTITUTION: A porous membrane made of e.g. ceramic is immersed in a solution of γ-aminopropylethoxysilane to effect the silanation of the membrane and the introduction of amino group and then treated with a glutaraldehyde solution. An immobilized enzyme layer immobilized with invertase which is an enzyme to invert sucrose into glucose and fructose is formed in the membrane. The immobilized membrane is formed to a tubular membrane module 1. A raw material solution containing molasses such as black strap molasses, washed molasses, etc., is charged to a substrate tank 4 maintained at a prescribed temperature with a temperature-controlling coil 3, circulated with a pump 2 and passed through the above membrane module under pressure after removing fine particles and polymeric substances from the solution. Glucose and fructose inverted from the molasses in contact with the invertase are recovered from the liquid permeated through the membrane. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
