abstract |
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound in high conversion, by using a dealuminated faujasite-type zeolite, especially Y-type zeolite as a catalyst and alkylating naphthalene or an alkylnaphthalene in the presence of a saturated alicyclic hydrocarbon. n CONSTITUTION: A mono- and/or dialkylnaphthalene can be produced by reacting naphthalene and/or an alkylnaphthalene (especially preferably β- methylnaphthalene) with an alkylating agent in the presence of a dealuminated faujasite-type zeolite (especially a Y-type zeolite dealuminated with an inorganic acid or organic acid and having a silica/alumina molar ratio of 6.5W150) and a saturated alicyclic hydrocarbon compound (especially preferably decalin or bicyclohexyl). n EFFECT: The zeolite keeps high catalytic activity over a long period and suppresses the production of 1,2-dimethylnaphthalene. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio |
