titleOfInvention Sustained release formulation for oral administration
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a stable and sustained release formulation, consisting of a sustained release drug and at least one mucosal adhesive substance, capable of exhibiting strong adhesive force in digestive tracts and sustaining the adhesive force for a long period and usable for oral administration. n CONSTITUTION: A sustained release formulation obtained by blending 1pts.wt. sustained release drub, e.g. analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent, antihistaminic agent, antibiotic substance, vasodilator, agent for digestive organs, enzyme, etc., with 0.1W1,000pts.wt., preferably 0.5.W500pts.wt. mucosal adhesive substance and formulating the blend by a conventional method. Various additives, e.g. excipient or disintegrating agent, as necessary, may be added. Vinyl polymers, e.g. polyacrylic acid, saccharides, e.g. aluminum salt of sucrose sulfate, celluloses, e.g. hydroxypropyl cellulose, proteins, e.g. enzyme, or mixtures thereof are cited as the mucosal adhesive substance. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
