abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a solid ink for an ink jet printer which has excellent dye solubility, is capable of maintaining a high-temperature molten state for a long time, and can give good printing on a recording paper of a various quality, by mixing a synthetic wax having polar groups with a dye soluble therein. n CONSTITUTION: This printer ink contains a synthetic wax having polar groups and a dye soluble therein. Examples of the synthetic wax to be used include a substance (1) of formula I (wherein R is alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl) (e.g., tricosanone or heptacosanone), a substance (2) of formula II (wherein R is alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl) (e.g., hexadecanol or octadecanol), a substance (3) of formula III (wherein R' is alkylene, alkenylene or alkynylene) (e.g., octanediol or decanediol), and an oxidized hydrocarbon wax (4).
