titleOfInvention | Production of alpha or beta-substituted-gamma-hydroxybutenolide |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain in high yield simply the titled compound useful for producing strigol, by treating a 2-trialkylsilylfuran compound containing a substituent group at 3- or 4-position with oxygen while irradiating it with light rays in the presence of both a solvent and a photosensitizer. n CONSTITUTION: A compound shown by the formula I or formula II (R is lower alkyl; group shown by the formula III is organic substituent group), particularly a compound shown by the formula IV is treated with oxygen while irradiating it with light rays in a solvent such as preferably methanol, ethanol, dichloromethane, chloroform, ether, etc., in the presence of a photosensitizer such as Rose Bengal, tetraphenylporphine, Methylene Blue, chlorophyll, Eosine, etc., to give efficiently in terms of position specificity the aimed compound shown by the formula V or formula VI useful for producing strigol (natural substance having promoting action on seed germination) or manoalide (an- inflammatory agent or antibacterial agent), etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio |
