abstract | PURPOSE:To provide a thermal recording material capable of obtaining a high density color image even under low energy and reduced in background fog, by incorporating at least one kind of a heat-meltable substance represented by a specific formula and polyvinyl pyrrolidone in a thermal color forming layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal color forming layer based on a colorless or light- colored electron donative dye precursor and an electron acceptive substance forming a color upon the reaction with said electron donative dye precursor is provided on a support and at least one kind of a heat-meltable substance represented by formula (I) or (II) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone are contained in said thermal color forming layer. Said heat-meltable substance pref. has m.p. of 70-150 deg.C and, concretely, beta-naphthylbenzyl ether (m.p., 105 deg.C), beta- naphthylbenzyl thioether (m.p., 87 deg.C) and 1,2-bisphenoxyethane (m.p., 97-98 deg.C) are designated. |
