PURPOSE: To produce a narrow-MW distribution block copolymer, by reacting a polyether obtained by reacting an acid anhydride with an epoxide in the presence of a specified catalyst with an epoxide and CO 2 gas. n CONSTITUTION: A catalyst is obtained by combining 1mol of an aluminum porphyrin complex (A) of formula I (wherein X is a halogen, an alkyl or an alkoxy, R 1 is H or a group of formula II and R 2 is H or X) with 1/10W10mol of an organic quat. salt (B) (e.g., ethyltriphenylphosphonium bromide). A polyester obtained by reacting an acid anhydride (e.g., maleic anhydride) with 10W1,000mol, per mol of component A, of an epoxide (e.g., ethylene oxide) in the presence of said catalyst is reacted with an epoxide and CO 2 gas to obtain a block copolymer, which is reacted, if desired, with an epoxide, alone or together with an acid anhydride. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio |
