abstract | The present invention provides novel polymers and methods for their preparation. More particularly, the present invention provides a system for preparing novel polyester compositions. For example, in one embodiment, the present invention provides a method for synthesizing a novel polyester composition from an epoxide and a cyclic anhydride in the presence of a metal complex. In certain embodiments, the polyester is an alternating polymer. In certain embodiments, the polymer is an alternating polymer of epoxide and cyclic anhydride (eg, with regular alternating units of epoxide and anhydride). In certain embodiments, the polyester is a random copolymer of poly (epoxide) and poly (anhydride). |
