titleOfInvention | Production of grafted polyether ester |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the titled polymer having high reactivity because of the capability to get a proper active functional group, and useful as a surface modifier, etc., by dispersing an polyether ester containing polyalkylene glycol chain in an aqueous medium and reacting with an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid. n CONSTITUTION: The objective polymer is produced by (1) dispersing or dissolving (A) a polyether ester derived from a dibasic acid (or its ester-forming derivative), a glycol and a polyalkylene glycol, in an aqueous medium, and (2) reacting the ester with (B) an α,β-unsaturated monocarboxylic acid [preferably (meth) acrylic acid] in the presence of an aqueous radical polymerization initiator such as ammonium persulfate. The above reaction is carried out e.g. by substituting the aqueous dispersion or solution of the component A containing the polymerization initiator with nitrogen gas and adding the component B in order to the mixture. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio |
