titleOfInvention Nonionic surfactant
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a nonionic surfactant easy to handle by allowing glycitol and ethylene oxide to react with higher alcohol or alkylphenol. n CONSTITUTION: Glycitol and ethylene oxide are added to a higher alcohol or alkylphenol in an inert gas atmosphere by using an alkaline catalyst such as NaOH and KOH at 100W160°C to obtain a nonionic surfactant shown by the formula [R is alkyl, alkenyl, and alkylphenyl having 12W26C, (m) is 15, and (n) is 1W70]. Although an acidic catalyst such as antimony pentachloride, tin tetrachloride, etc. can be used as the catalyst, the reaction temp. in that case is regulated to 30W90°C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
