titleOfInvention Inhibitor for rise in cholesterol and health food containing said inhibitor
abstract PURPOSE: The titled inhibitor consisting essentially of hemicellulose extracted from soybean coats and a health food containing the above-mentioned inhibitor. n CONSTITUTION: An inhibitor for rise in cholesterol obtained by pulverizing soybean coats, dipping the pulverized coats in hot water preferably at 90W95°C for tens of minutes, extracting the coats with the hot water, fittering the resuttant extract, and treating the fitrate by a chemical means, e.g. with trichloroacetic acid, or an exzymic means, e.g. pronase, to remove proteins, precipitating the resultant residue with an alcohol, e.g. ethanol, collecting and drying the formed precipitates to give hemicellulose of the soybean coats, dialyzing the formed liquid, etc. to remove low-molecular materials other than the hemicellulose, and incorporating the hemicellulose as a main constituent. The resultant inhibitor is added to a food or drink to give a health food capable of inhibiting the rise in cholesterol. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
