abstract | PURPOSE: To collect unreacted oxazolidinone and to use it for synthesizing β- blocking agent, by treating a racemic modification of oxazolidinone with an enzyme having a stereoselective esterase activity derived from an animal organ. n CONSTITUTION: A racemic modification of 3-alkyl-substituted-5-acyloxymethyloxazolidin-2-one shown by the formula I (X is lower alkyl group; Y is substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, etc.) is treated with a crude enzyme having a stereoselective esterase activity, capable of hydrolyzing the compound shown by the formula I and forming an optically active (-)-3-alkyl-substituted-5-hydroxymethyloxazolidin-2-one shown by the formula II, derived from an animal organ, such as liver, etc. The compound shown by the formula II, an organic acid, and an optically active (+)-3-alkyl-substituted-5-acyloxymethyloxazolidin-2-one shown by the formula III are separated by chromatography, to give a compound shown by the formula III. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio |
