abstract | NEW MATERIAL:A thiophosphatidyl ethanolamine derivative of formula I (R and R 1 are alkyl or fatty acid residue). n EXAMPLE: 2-Oleoyl-3-palmitoyl-1-sn-thiophosphatidyl ethanolamine. n USE: An agricultural and horticultural germicide usable safely without giving phytotoxicity to crops. n PROCESS: A glycerol derivative of formula II is reacted with a dichloro(N-2,2,2- trichloroethoxycarbonyl-2-aminoethyl)thiophosphate of formula III in a solvent, e.g. tetrahydrofuran (THF), in the presence of a condensing agent, e.g. sodium hydride, to prepare an N-(2,2,2-trichloroethoxycarbonyl)thiophosphatidyl ethanolamine derivative of formula IV, which is then reacted with zinc in acetic acid to remove the protecting group of the amino group.
