titleOfInvention Production of high-polymerization degree aromatic polyester
abstract PURPOSE: To produce the titled coloration-free, homogenous polymer of a limiting viscosity ≥1.20, by adding an iminoether compound to a specified aromatic polyester prepolymer and reacting the mixture under a condition under which the aromatic polyester prepolymer is in a molten state. n CONSTITUTION: A high-polymerization degree aromatic polyester of a limiting viscosity ≥1.2 is produced by adding at least 0.05wt% iminoether compound of formula III (wherein X is a bivalent aromatic group selected so that the ring structure of formula IV may be five- or six-membered, D is a bivalent organic group, and n is 0 or 1) to an aromatic polyester prepolymer with the limiting viscosity of 0.6 or above (measured at 35°C in a (4:6) tetrachloroethane/phenol mixed solvent), in which the proportion of the carboxyl group-blocked terminals is 45% or above based on the total molecular terminals and at least one equivalent/10 6 g of the terminal-blocking carboxyl groups is the group of formula I , wherein R is a (substituted) alkylene of formula II (wherein n is 10W18), and reacting the mixture under a condition under which the aromatic polyester prepolymer is in a molten state. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
