titleOfInvention Suspension stabilizer
abstract PURPOSE: A dispersion stabilizer particularly suitable in suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride, comprising a combination of a partially saponified PVA having anionic hydrophilic groups on its side chains and a partially saponified PVA being free of said hydrophilic groups and having a specified saponification degree. n CONSTITUTION: The dispersion stabilizer is obtained by mixing (A) 20W80wt% of a partially saponified PVA, average polymerization degree 200W3,000, average saponification degree 60W90mol%, having 0.02W10mol% of anionic hydrophilic groups such as carboxyl groups on its side chains with (B) 80W20wt% of a partially saponified PVA, average polymerization degree 400W3,000, average saponification degree 60W90mol%. One hundred (100)pts.wt. of vinyl chloride is introduced into a vessel containing (I) 100W300pts.wt. of water, (II) 0.01W0.3pt.wt. of said dispersion stabilizer and (III) 0.01W0.3pt.wt. of a polymerization initiator and the mixture is polymerized to produce PVC. n EFFECT: The PVC thus produced has a sharp particle size distribution, a moderate average particle diameter, a moderate apparent density and a high porosity. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
